Target profile
The resolution of a film is one of the most important criterions for a high quality playback. Therefore it seems advisable to choose the resolution as high as possible. But this only makes sense, if the player (computer / especially TV) can really display that quality. Furthermore, the encoding will take a lot longer at the highest quality, because many more pixels have to be calculated and the product takes up a lot more storage space.
With the awareness of these defaults and their characteristics, the resolution can be chosen here. The normal output format is probably the best choice for normal TV sets. HD 720p (1280×720 pixels) is suitable for TV sets that are labelled HD ready. HD 1080p (1920×1080 pixels) is usually the largest resolution and is most suitable for full HD television sets.
